Music video feedback and actions taken.

A few days ago we had a talk with one of our teachers who looked over the video we had put together so far. He pointed out to us that out personalities aren't very obvious/clear to the audience and they don't shine through as much as they should, as it is our bands first music video and we need to almost force our images onto our audience. He suggested we filmed more scenes to try and show this and not ignore it, mainly as we have focused a lot of our album covers, photo shoots, websites and all the things along side them on these personalities. We looked at lots of music video for influence on how we could approach this. We focused mainly on the first music videos of little mix, fifth harmony and the spice girls. This is because each one has a lot of crossovers and similarities with our band. Little mix and Fifth Harmony are similar in the fact that their genre and style of music is very similar to ours. the spice girls are famous for each having their own personalities e.g. Sporty spice (Frankie is our version of this being the edgy one) Posh Spice (Olivia's personality is very similar to this) and Baby Spice (I represent this personality in our group as i am the girly one). we looked at how they were able to present their personalities in a way that the audience were aware of their differences and  were able to connect with us through this.
Little Mix: Wings

We took influence from this video in the form of their outfits and how they are all so different and miss matched and each one really shows their individual personalities. we also really liked the idea of each standing in front of a different wall with icons reflecting our personalities, but due to lack of time we decided that it would be to time consuming to do this. We did take a lot of ideas for gestures and movements to portray personality from them.

Little Mix: Move
In our music video we have used a slight narrative this consists of the girls in the band each having a male partner which in the club they have a scene with in front of the light wall. To make this more clear we also decided to shoot scenes with the guys in front of the white wall, we took influence from the Move music video as they too have male partners, in the first initial shots they are shown in a silhouette form next to them, some of the girls are leaning on them others just with their hands on their shoulders. We thought that this would be nice to do as it links well with the theme and style of our other shots and helps to enforce the narrative. We also decided to use lit shots of the girls and male partner so that the audience is more clear who the girls are and to show more personality through this.

Fifth Harmony: Miss Moving On

This is Fifth Harmony's first ever music video, after looking at this we could see from their styles who they were, they may not have as obvious personalities but you could see a sense of them. We really liked the individual shots that they had where the girls were in front of a pink and blue background, we also took a lot of influence from the gestures and things they did, for example the hair flicks.

We then used all of the influence and idea that we had gained from this and decided to shoot some more scenes on the following Monday after school had finished, we gained help from a few of our friends, Marcus (who acted as my male friend), James (frankies boyfriend, in reality and the music video), Thane (who played Liv's male friend) and Niall Thanes older brother and James friend (who helped with the lighting and camera work).

Today I spent a lot of my time editing the music video, I added some more of the most recent shots that we filmed to what we had already filling the gaps that we had left, I included parts of Frankie and James in silhouette and Liv and Thane, I still need to work in one of me and Marcus so that it is consistent with all of us and looks good. I also included a couple of shots of Liv and Thane in front of the white wall, these show her personality well as she blows a kiss to the camera giving off her Diva personality. I also edited one of her flicking her hair slowing it down and putting it to the beat of the song. I finally included a couple of Marcus and I, these help a lot to show my personality as they are very cheesy and cute, reflecting my personality.

After doing this i asked for feadback from Mrs Brookes and Mrs Field two of my teachers who were currently present and available to give feedback. we sat down together and watched what we have at this moment of the video numerous times each time taking a pause at the end whilst they flooded me with really helpful feedback as i took note of it, I then had to leave, they continued to watch it writing down notes for us to look at tomorrow. Bellow are some of the feedback that they gave.

Suggestions for improvement
- Some of the shots are a little bit too quick the audience doesn't get time to realise what is going on.
- Some of the shots linger a little bit more than they need to.
- Need more shots with the boys to really enforce the narrative. Along with more repetition of some shots/scenes for example MORE GLOW IN THE DARK SHOTS!
- Possibly more abstract cutaways like the eyes as they look really professional and creative.
- Include more of Liv and Thane
- Think about shooting more shots of either just Sophie and Marcus in a different setting where its darker lit and there is more influence of lights, or shoot more of all three couples in this location as the white wall scenes (especially on me and Marcus for some reason) are a little off putting and they stand out a little too much as they are so bright and different from the style of all of the other shots.
- You could possibly cut off a little bit of the song as it gets a bit repetitive and boring and it is not needed at all.
- The coloring on some shots looks a little dull
- its annoying that we dont always finish the sentence before the shot changes
- There is a bit at the start of liv singing light me up (chorus) alone and as much as she really gets into it and its a really good shot it looks a little odd and would work better if it was all three of us near the start.
- You have shots of Frankie and Liv at the start with their guys but not yourself and i think it would work better if you did as it introduces them all at the start.
- The OOOH Frankie says in the first shot of her would look better if it was synced with the music which would mean the head turn would look odd so you are going to have to figure something out and possibly change it.
- Lip syncing is a little off in places slightly.

Parts that they liked
- Marcus looks really sweet and your relationship looks really adorable and cute, and we want to see more of it. (when it came on the screen they both 'awww-ed' which is good)
- There are lots of shots of Frankie and she dominates the video a little, but this is good as most bands have a more prominent singer. She has a lot of sass and edge to her and you can really tell this. She is a good performer.
- I have good star presence and you can really tell my character is girly and cute.
- Liv's slo-mo hair flick shot along with the other shots of her in front of the white wall are really good and really show her as the diva, with a lot of sass and cheek.
- The costume choices in front of the white wall are really good and show your personality well as a band and individuals
- The low angle shot of us in front of the white wall is really good
- Frankie's Hat scenes are really creative and sassy.
